Frequently Asked Questions

Ask Us Anything. We're Here To Make Your Event Happen

  • What is your Mission? What are you all about?
    • It’s about Making People Happy, through Legendary Events.
    • We believe that live events can be a positive experience for everyone involved -- performers, attendees, and everyone who works on making the show happen.
  • What does GBM6 mean?
    • “GB” stands for “GrooveBoston,” which encompasses performance-oriented projects that feature our resident DJs and branded US tours.
    • “M6” is short for “Mission Six,” which was the working title for our non-DJ projects when we launched a new division in 2013 to broaden our service range.
    • GBM6 was launched in 2018 as a consolidated brand. We’re now a single team, focused on producing legendary events that make people happy.
  • Wait... are you a DJ company?
    • GrooveBoston was originally built as a production-intensive DJ show, featuring our own resident DJs. We produced 10 tours with this model, and continue to crush tech-heavy DJ shows, as part of our broader range of services.
    • Somewhere along the way, we realized that our passion & expertise was much broader than just DJ shows, and that our team was well suited to focusing on a wider range of projects.
    • GBM6 is now bigger than just DJ shows -- we regularly produce large-scale concerts with major artists, as well as massive special projects of all kinds.
    • We specialize in legendary events that make people happy, with a deep focus on technical production.

  • What sort of equipment do you have?
    • We believe that’s it’s CRITICAL to start each project as a blank canvas, and try to avoid limiting what’s possible, based equipment that’s in-stock or available.
    • We believe in the value of the virtuoso, and try to work with specialists, whenever possible.
    • We work with some of the best production suppliers in the world, to make sure that each event has all the right elements.
    • We’re all about sourcing the right gear and partners, and putting everything together in a way that makes a show that’s far bigger than the sum of its parts.
  • I already have a local vendor that I like. Can we involve them in my event?

Sure; we work with local vendors all the time, and are happy to include them -- as long as they have the right gear and expertise to make your show legendary.

  • How far do you travel?

As far as we need to. We’ve got a logistics team that can get all the right people and equipment anywhere in the world. We’re based in the northeast, but regularly do shows that involve shipping equipment, flying crews and artists, and sourcing local vendors. If the goal is legendary, we’ll get there, and make happen.

  • How far in advance should I call to book a show?

Call as early as possible. Some dates book as far as a year in advance. BUT, we can make things happen on short notice, too -- we’ve pulled shows together in less than a week.

  • How much does this cost?
    • Each show, tour, and project is entirely customized, based on variables like the venue, in-house capabilities, and your target budget.
    • On average, the production cost for a legendary event is about $22 per capita.
  • I’ve got a series of events back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Can you do all of them? Will I get a discount?

Yes! We love this, and it’s a great way to get the most of these projects. We can generally offer 50% off the equipment costs for every additional day/event. The crew cost will be lower for each day/show, too, since we’ll only need to build it and take it down once.

  • This sounds awesome, but we don’t have a venue that would work for a big concert / event. Is that a deal-breaker?
    • Not at all. We’ve been known to get creative with venues. In fact, that’s a big part of what we do, and we’ve got the resources to literally build an event from the ground up. Give us a mountain, a parking lot, a quad, or whatever else you’ve got, and we’ll make it happen.
    • We’d be happy to come to you for a site visit, to walk through some of the potential spaces, and figure out what’s feasible.
  • Do you only do college events?
    • We have been extremely active in the college market since our start in 2004, and our DJ performances / tours tend to be very college-oriented.
    • We also do major events with global brands, big cities, as well as custom installs and massive special projects.
  • When you bring DJs, what sort of music do they play?

The best way to describe a GrooveBoston DJ performance is that it’s all about intense, FUN, visceral music delivery. The experience is a fine-tuned version of what you’d get at a full-scale superclub, or the closing set at a major festival. Our DJs tend to keep it relatively up-tempo, and bring in a lot of remixes. You’ll hear everything from aggressive EDM to top-of-your-lungs sing-alongs and heart-warming throwbacks, all fused together with a hand-crafted face-rocking experience.

  • Can I work for you?!

We offer semester-long internships in areas like technical production, branding & marketing, and operations & logistics. Keep an eye out on social media for opportunities!
